Nelia Amero T.
Nelia is a Senior Partner at COREip Attorneys in Mexico City with over 19 years of experience in intellectual property matters such as trademarks and copyrights. She has worked both in the public and private sector. In 1997, she began to work at the Mexican Trademark Office (IMPI) where she occupied several positions, being the last one the Trademark´s Underdirector. In her position as Underdirector she was in charge of granting and denying distinctive signs. Moreover, one of her main duties was to advise the users of the Mexican Trademark Office over the process and granting of registries, as well as the matters related to the conservation of rights derived from trademarks, slogans and trade names.
Before joining COREip Attorneys, Nelia was one of the founding partners of Easymark, where she advised all sorts of clients and companies.
Nelia has a law degree from the Universidad Autonoma de Mexico and a Master of Intellectual Property and IT from the Universidad de Alicante, Spain and
an Post Graduate Diplomas on Intellectual Property and Amparo Appeals from the Universidad Panamericana.
She has participated in several national and international forums with special emphasize in the registry and protection of distinctive signs and represented Mexico in the Standing Committee about Trademark Law, Industrial Designs and Geographic Indications in 2012 at the World Intellectual Property Organization.
